Project 365 - Courage Award

Both of our daughters serve as Altar Servers at our church. We had our Altar Server annual banquet tonight, and my older daughter earned the "Courage" award. She has been an altar server for almost 8 years, and our younger daughter has been one for 6 years. I am SO proud of both of them for serving Jesus with such love and devotion.

Project 365 - Flamingos

I love all birds, but Flamingos are my absolute favorite. These carribbean flamingos are at Busch Gardens. I think it must be mating season, since they were trying to make themselves look as tall as possible. Some of them were almost as tall as I am!

Project 365 - Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence

Trustful Surrender to Divine Providence: The Secret of Peace and Happiness: Father Jean Baptiste Saint-Jure, Saint Claude de la Colombiere.

My spiritual guide recommended this book to me a couple of years ago, and I am so glad she did. It is one of the best spiritual books I have read, and I have practially worn out my first copy, so I purchased a second one. (I got them both on eBay, but you can also purchase them from TAN Books).

Here is an excerpt:

"To remain indifferent to good fortune or to adversity by accepting it all from the hand of God without questioning, not to ask for things to be done as we would like them but as God wishes, to make the intention of all our prayers that God's will should be perfectly accomplished in ourselves and in all creatures is to find the secret of happiness and content." Project 365 - Hibiscus

My favorite flower is the hibiscus. I think they are so pretty and they remind me of my trip to Hawaii. This one is right outside my office window, and I took the picture right after it had rained.

Project 365 - Grocery Store

I have been trying to take more pictures outside our home, so here is a picture of our Sweetbay grocery store. ;)

Project 365 - Taize Prayer

Our church has a Taize prayer service every month or so. It's so beautiful because of the beautiful music and the candle light. If you ever get a chance to attend a Taize prayer service, I strongly recommend it.

Project 365 - Cindy's Socks

I made these socks for my friend Cindy, and they fit her perfectly! (I was really worried about that). She had picked the yarn out herself several months ago, so I am glad to finally have them done for her.

Thursday, March 19, 2009

My older daughter made this adorable little pot for me in her pottery class at school. I love it, and I will keep it forever.

Project 365 - Bandit and Amber

Our sweet boy greyhound, Bandit, loves my stuffed dog (named Amber). I think he looks so adorable here using her as a pillow for his nap. ;)

Project 365 - Pieta

This beautiful etched glass is located in the entryway to our Church. It is a replica of a statue called The Pieta by Michelangelo in St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

Project 365 - Yarn Stash

I finally got around to organizing my yarn stash. The lower two left cubes are sock yarn, and the rest of the yarn is cotton yarn for dishcloths. I just love these wire cubes. (I purchased them at Target).

Project 365 - Knitted Ballband Swiffer Cover

One of my favorite things about knitting is making things I can use around the house. This is a washable cover for the Swiffer mop so I don't have to use the disposable ones anymore. I absolutely love the ballband pattern, and I will make more!

Project 365 - Office With New Carpet

Here's my office after I put my carpet down. I love it! The picture also shows my work desk (with the black chair facing it) and my spare desk. I love how much sunlight I get in this room.

Project 365 - Office Before Carpet

Recently we turned 1/3 of our garage into my home office, but we had not had carpeting put in yet. We gutted the room of my desk and all of my equpiment so we can put carpet down in there tomorrow. I hate that concrete floor! It makes my feet so cold. I can't wait to get the carpeting in there.

Project 365 - Waves on the Shore Dishcloth

My yarn choice does not do this dishcloth justice! I have seen the same cloth done in other colorways, and it looks much better. I made a smaller version to use as a coaster, and it didn't turn out well either. :) I have not given up on this cloth yet!

Project 365 - Grandma's Favorite Dishcloth

This is the old standby "brainless" knitting pattern called Grandma's Favorite. It's a great one to do because it is easy to memorize and only involves the knit stitch. It's great for variegated yarns.

Project 365 - Birds

My older daughter and I went to Busch Gardens today, and she wanted to feed the birds. If you hold out a cup of nectar, several birds will come drink from the cup. These birds are either Lory birds or Lorikeets. I don't know how to tell the difference. :) We had a beautiful day, and I will post more pictures later.

Project 365 - Pencil Collection

I love to use and collect pencils. My favorite brand of pencils is Ticonderoga. I really love to collect pencils from places I have been and for various holidays such as Easter, Halloween, and Christmas. I prefer to write with a pencil instead of a pen, and I use them every day.

I also LOVE Bugs Bunny, and this mug is one of my favorites. The mug is the monster called Gossamer, and Bugs Bunny is hiding behind him on the mug. ;)

Project 365 - January Mid-Month Dishcloth

This dishcloth is called Cheyena and was the mid-January dishcloth for the knit-a-long (KAL) group I belong to. I did all 24 cloths for the year last year, but this year I am only doing the ones I love. :)

Project 365 - Crucifix

This crucifix hangs in our Catholic church right above the altar. I love the stained glass behind the altar, it's so pretty and the colors are so calming.

Project 365 - St. Francis

This statue of St. Francis stands outside our Catholic church. I love the fish by his feet. There are many stories about St. Francis regarding animals and fish.

Project 365 - Loft Beds

Our daughters have had loft beds in their bedrooms for sevral years, but now they feel that they have outgrown them. So, we took the loft beds apart and they now have "regular"beds. This is my older daughter's bed after she cleaned off the desk so we could take it apart. It is now in my craft room as a spare bed.

Happy Blogaversary!

Today is my 2-year blogaversary! Boy, does time fly! I wanted to have a contest for my blogaversary, but I am not quite ready for it yet. But i will have one soon, and a hint is that it will be related to knitting. ;)

Project 365 - Stained Glass Cross

My friend, Cindy, gave me this cross that she got from Artistic Crosses. The family that creates these crosses has an amazing story, and I strongly recommend reading it!
