First Continental Socks

These socks will be my first pair done with Continental knitting. They are also the first ones where I am using 2 strands of yarn. I love how they are turning out so far! The colored yarn is self-striping, so they should look really interesting when they are done.

Edited to Add: Yikes! This is too small and does not fit over my heel. I leaned a very valuable lesson here ... the strands from the colorwork make this less stretchy than usual. I think I need to experiment with gauge for this project. ;)

Project 365 - The Happy Couple

My husband, Joe, likes to be "mean" to the stuffies at our house. See his evil smile? Poor stuffed Benji!

Project 365 - Guitar

I have always wanted to learn to play the guitar. I took lessons for a while, but I got frustrated. I have recently picked it back up, and this time I WILL conquer it. ;)

My stuffed bunny, John John, got me this awesome gift today of sock yarn and knitting needles as an early birthday present. Isn't he sweet? ;) I wonder how he knew EXACTLY what I wanted? Hmmmmmm.......

Project 365 - Prayer Book and Crucifix

This is the crucifix I was given when incorporated into Regnum Christi, and my prayer book. These have a lot of meaning in my spiritual life.

The crucifix is the same as the one that Pope John Paul II used at the top of his staff. I got to see the staff up close when Vatican Splendors came to our area last year. I wanted to jump over the glass case that was holding it so I could touch it, but I didn't want to be tackled and/or arrested by security. ;)

Project 365 - Me and My Laptop

This picture was actually taken yesterday, but this is where I am most Saturday and Sunday evenings. LOL I love, love, love my Toshiba laptop. This one is 17 inches, which is way bigger than I thought it would be when I ordered it, but it has an awesome monitor, so it's worth it! It's also HEAVY, and that is why, if you look closely, you will see my bunny John John is holding up the side with his rear end. LOL

Project 365 - Rubber Duckie

My daughters went to the mall today and got me this adorable rubber duck as a surprise gift. I love duckies (real and pretend), so this is so perfect for me.

Project 365 - Candle Holder

These candle holders are from PartyLite and are hanging in our living room near the entry. I like the green glass circles. I love to burn candles in the evening. It's so relaxing.

Project 365 - Vampire Dog

This cute doggie sits on the bar in our living room. He has several outfits so he can be dressed according to the season. Why is he wearing his Halloween vampire outfit in January? Because my younger daughter is obsessed with Twilight! ;)

Project 365 - Happy Bandit

When greyhounds are happy, they flip upside down in the "dead cockroach" position. Sometimes they even sleep this way. In this picture, Bandit is sound asleep. Isn't he adorable? :) This was my view of him when I was sitting on the couch.

Project 365 - Statue of St. Paul

Pope Benedict XVI has declared the year from June 28, 2008, to June 29, 2009 to be the year of St. Paul. We attend St. Paul's parish, and this is the statue of him that is outside the church.

Project 365 - Marty's Paw Print

When our greyhound (Marty) died, the place that cremated him did this paw print for us. When I picked up the ashes at the vet's office, I did not know the paw print was in the package. When I got to the car and opened it and saw the paw print, I started crying at that act of kindness. Marty was my "heart dog," so this paw print means the world to me.

Project 365 - Wade Collection

I recently started collecting these cute figurines that come in the boxes of Red Rose Tea. I think they are just adorable!!!

FREE Dishcloth Pattern - 3x3 Ribbed Cloth

Here's a pattern that I made up one day just for fun....

3x3 Ribbed Cloth

Cast on 39
Knit 4 rows for bottom border.
Row 1: K across
Row 2: *K3, P3* across.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 to desired length.
Knit 4 rows for top border.
Bind off.

Completed Dishcloths

This dishcloth is called Waffle Knit, and I just love how it works with variegated yarn. I will definitely knit more of this one.

This Pretzel dishcloth is a Valentine's Day present for my husband. Shhhh, it's a secret! The cloth is actually brown, but it photographed as this golden color.

This is my second attempt at a mitered square. My first one looked like a sting ray. ;) This is a cloth that looks complicated but is VERY easy to do.

Grandma's Favorite - done in Christmas colors. Yes, I started my Christmas knitting already. ;)

Project 365 - Socks in Progress

My friend, Cindy, has asked me to knit a pair of socks for her, and this is the first sock. I just finished the gusset decreases. She picked the yarn, and this picture really does not do it justice. I will post a better picture of the socks when they are completed.

Cindy was our older daughter's sponsor at her Confirmation last year, and this year she will do the same for our younger daughter.

Project 365 - Santo Nino

We have a large number of parishioners at our church who are from the Philippines. The third Sunday in January is the feast day for Santo Nino, and there is currently a novena going on each evening at our church in his honor. I think this statue is so beautiful. I really love Catholic artwork.

Project 365 - Janie with Cone

Janie has a sore toe that she keeps licking and will not leave alone. I took her to the vet, and they suggested we try putting a cone on her so she can't lick her toe. Nice idea, but these things are obviously not made for greyhounds. Her nose and legs are so long that she can still get to the toe, so after 2 days we took the cone off. She hated it and tried everything to get it off. Here she is pouting because mean mommy is taking an embarrassing picture. ;) She is on antibiotics, so hopefully her toe will heal quickly and she will leave it alone.

Project 365 - Ice Skate Dishcloth

I am so addicted to knitting dishcloths. I have learned so much from them. I belong to an online group that does two knit-a-longs (KALs) each month. This is the first one for 2009. Last year I completed all 24 dishcloths for the year.

Project 365 - FlyLady Timer

I use my timer every day to keep my self on track and keep from getting sidetracked for too long. I learned this from FlyLady. When I have something I don't want to do (like cleaning), I set the timer for 15 minutes. If I want to continue after that I can, and this is what usually happens. But, if I feel like stopping, I give myself permission to do so. "I can do anything for 15 minutes." :) Most of the time on weekends I will do 15 minutes of fun and then 15 minutes of work and then 15 minutes of fun again. It really helps me get a lot done.

Project 365 - Crucifix

I think this crucifix in my church is so beautiful! I love the style, and I especially love the colors.

Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again!

Project 365 - Bunny Teapot

My stuffed bunny, John John, gave me this lovely bunny teapot for Christmas. I love blue and white china, and I love bunnies, so this was a perfect gift. The top part is the tea pot, and the bottom part is the tea cup.

Project 365 - Peaches & Creme Yarn Order

I am an avid dishcloth knitter, and I just placed an order at Peaches & Creme for some yarn for the monthly knit-a-long (KAL), and I also ordered some cones and some grab bags. I am in yarn heaven. I will post all of the items individually later.

Project 365 - Wallet

I love my wallet because it has a flower on it, and it is made with bright colors. I wish I had a purse to match it! The wallet was made by Fossil, and I got it on sale for only $12! There is not usually much in it, but I love it anyway. ;)

Project 365 - Hope

Romans 8:24-25
For in HOPE we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it.

Project 365 - Big Pile of Stuffies

In our house, our "stuffies" are "real people" and we make them talk. It sounds crazy, I know, but it is a lot of fun. Here's a big pile of our stuffies for you to enjoy. ;)
