Project 365 - Bandit and Amber

Our sweet boy greyhound, Bandit, loves my stuffed dog (named Amber). I think he looks so adorable here using her as a pillow for his nap. ;)

Project 365 - Marty Greyhound

Our first greyhound, Marty, died in 2005. I painted this picture of him, and naturally he has angel wings and a halo, because to me he was an angel from heaven.

Project 365 - Greyhounds in Sunshine

Bandit and Janie just love to lie in the sun on cold days. When we first got the dogs, Janie would barely tolerate Bandit, but now I think she likes his company. She chooses to lie close to him instead on the other side of the yard like she used to do.

Project 365 - Janie in the Sun

On sunny days, Janie likes to lie in the floor of my home office and enjoy the sun. Isn't she so pretty?

Project 365 - Flippy Boy

We can always tell when Bandit is really happy because he flips upside down. In this picture, he is actually asleep in this position. ;)

Project 365 - Breakfast in Bed?

If you look carefully, you can see a bone in Janie's mouth. I was giving the dogs their morning treats, and Janie was lying on her bed looking at me like she was saying, "Can't I eat in bed, Mom?" So, I gave it to her and then stood by to make sure she didn't choke.

Project 365 - Happy Birthday Bandit

Bandit turned 8 years old today! We made a vanilla cake and decorated it with candies to make a "B" on top. Our doggies love to eat vanilla birthday cake. ;)

Project 365 - Bandit's Feet

These are Bandit's feet when he was sleeping on his side. I call this the "big pile of feet." ;)

Project 365 - Happy Bandit

When greyhounds are happy, they flip upside down in the "dead cockroach" position. Sometimes they even sleep this way. In this picture, Bandit is sound asleep. Isn't he adorable? :) This was my view of him when I was sitting on the couch.

Project 365 - Marty's Paw Print

When our greyhound (Marty) died, the place that cremated him did this paw print for us. When I picked up the ashes at the vet's office, I did not know the paw print was in the package. When I got to the car and opened it and saw the paw print, I started crying at that act of kindness. Marty was my "heart dog," so this paw print means the world to me.

Project 365 - Janie with Cone

Janie has a sore toe that she keeps licking and will not leave alone. I took her to the vet, and they suggested we try putting a cone on her so she can't lick her toe. Nice idea, but these things are obviously not made for greyhounds. Her nose and legs are so long that she can still get to the toe, so after 2 days we took the cone off. She hated it and tried everything to get it off. Here she is pouting because mean mommy is taking an embarrassing picture. ;) She is on antibiotics, so hopefully her toe will heal quickly and she will leave it alone.

Project 365 - Janie

Janie (a.k.a Princess, Demon Dog, or Janie Lanie) looks so adorable when she is sleeping. She looks so innocent ... but trust me, she is not! ;)

Project 365 - Greyhounds

Bandit and Janie seem to sleep in the same (or very similar) positions a lot, even when they are in different rooms. ;)

Meet the Greyhounds

We are very fortunate to have two wonderful greyhounds. Their names are Janie and Bandit, and they make us laugh every day with their antics.

Since the weather is starting to cool off, I thought I would first share some pictures of them in their coats. The lady that I order the coats from makes them specifically to fit each dog, and we even got to pick the fabric she used. She donates all of her profits to her local greyhound adoption chapter.

This first picture is of our boy, Bandit. Look at that handsome profile!!!

The coats came with "snood" attachments. Look at how our girl Janie looks.

Here is a great shot of the two of them together so you can see their size difference. Janie may be smaller, but she is definitely the Alpha dog, and Bandit lets her boss him around. She THINKS she is the boss of me, too.

Here's a lovely shot of Janie relaxing. What a beautiful face!

When a greyhound is happy, he or she will flip upside down. They can even fall asleep in this position. I don' t know how that can possibly be comfortable....

When we first got Bandit he liked to sleep in his crate with his head hanging out. Again, how can that be comfortable?

Now he likes to sleep all over. His favorite place is in my older daughter's bedroom ... away from bossy Janie.

Here's a shot of princess Janie on the spare bed in my craft room. She likes to cuddle up with my stuffed bunny.
