Here's a pattern that I made up one day just for fun....
3x3 Ribbed Cloth
Cast on 39
Knit 4 rows for bottom border.
Row 1: K across
Row 2: *K3, P3* across.
Repeat Rows 1 and 2 to desired length.
Knit 4 rows for top border.
Bind off.
